Why ElectriCare

The Premium Installer for Southwest Riverside County

We are, at our core, a solar installation company. It's what we've done since 2000, it's what we do best, and it's what we're known for across Southwest Riverside County. We didn't start as a sales organization that added solar. We started as solar — and we've stayed that way.

That means when we recommend equipment, we recommend what we'd put on our own homes. We don't offer low-cost panels with high failure rates. We don't install inverters we know will fail. And we don't build $5,000–$6,000 sales commissions into our pricing the way some national installers do.

  • Same License for 26 Years

CA CSLB #778366. AZ ROC #352224. Family-owned since 2000. We are not going anywhere — and that matters when you need service 10 years from now.

  • No Commission-Inflated Pricing

Some national installers build $5,000–$6,000 in sales commissions directly into the price of every system. We don't. What you pay goes toward equipment and installation — not a rep's bonus.

  • Premium Equipment Only

We are a Maxeon Preferred Installation Partner and Enphase Preferred Partner. We also install REC and QCell — all premium-tier manufacturers. We do not offer low-cost commodity panels.

  • In-House Crews — Always

Every system is installed by our own licensed electricians — never subcontracted. One team, from design to installation to service.

A Note on Financing Transparency

If you finance your solar system, we will always be honest: the financing we can arrange for you will, 100% of the time, be more expensive than the financing you arrange yourself — through your bank, credit union, or personal sources. We tell every customer this upfront. Our job is to install a great system, not to profit from your loan.

Understanding Your Options

Owned Solar vs. Prepaid Solar Lease

Two very different financial propositions — and the wrong choice can follow you for years. Before you decide, make sure you fully understand both options and how each one impacts your finances, your home value, and your options 5–10 years down the road.

Owned Solar

You own the system — from day one

  • System Ownership You own it immediately
  • 30% Federal Tax Credit Yes — you receive it
  • Home Value Impact Increases home value
  • Home Sale Process Clean — system transfers with home
  • Upfront Cost Full system cost (or financed)
  • Long-Term Savings Maximum — all savings are yours
  • Financing Available Yes — cash, loan, or credit union
  • Battery Storage Option Yes — no restrictions

Prepaid Solar Lease

A third party owns the system — for now

  • System Ownership Third party owns it until year 5–6
  • 30% Federal Tax Credit No — the leasing company receives it
  • Home Value Impact Can complicate sale until ownership transfers
  • Home Sale Process Lease must be disclosed & managed
  • Upfront Cost ~70% of system cost (cash or financed)
  • Long-Term Savings Reduced — structured in leasing company's favor
  • Financing Available Yes — for the 70% prepaid amount
  • Battery Storage Option May be limited by lease terms

The Most Important Question to Ask Yourself Before Deciding

"Do I thoroughly understand both financial propositions — and how each one impacts my decision now, as well as 5–10 years down the road?"

Both options can make sense for different homeowners. What doesn't make sense is choosing one without fully understanding the other. We take the time to walk every customer through both — with no pressure, no upsell, and complete transparency about the long-term implications of each.

Understanding NEM 3.0

Solar in California Changed in 2023. Here's What That Means for You.

California's NEM 3.0 policy, which took effect in April 2023, fundamentally changed the economics of residential solar. Under NEM 2.0, excess solar energy exported to the grid earned homeowners approximately $0.30 per kilowatt-hour. Under NEM 3.0, that export credit dropped to approximately $0.06/kWh.

This doesn't make solar a bad investment — it changes how you get the most out of it. The value of solar has shifted from grid export to self-consumption. The homeowners getting the most from their solar systems today are those whose systems were designed with NEM 3.0 in mind from the start — maximizing what they use directly and storing the rest in a battery.

ElectriCare designs every system for NEM 3.0 reality — not the model that worked five years ago.

Get a NEM 3.0 System Design

Export Credits Are Lower — Self-Consumption Is Key

Under NEM 3.0, every kWh you use directly from your panels is worth ~5x more than exporting it. System sizing and battery pairing matter more than ever.

Battery Storage Is No Longer Optional — It's Strategic

A battery allows you to capture and use excess solar generation instead of exporting it at $0.06/kWh. For most NEM 3.0 customers, solar + battery outperforms solar alone.

Prepaid Leases Under NEM 3.0 — Read the Fine Print

Some prepaid lease structures were built around NEM 2.0 economics. Under NEM 3.0, the financial terms of a lease may be even less favorable than they appear. Ask the right questions before signing.

Solar Is Still a Strong Investment Under NEM 3.0

Electricity rates continue to rise. Self-consumed solar is still worth $0.25–$0.45/kWh avoided. A properly designed system still pays for itself — it just requires smarter design.

Equipment We Install

Premium Equipment. No Exceptions.

We don't offer a "good / better / best" tiering. In our experience, "good" is often inadequate, "better" is acceptable, and "best" is what customers wish they'd chosen from the start. We install what we'd put on our own homes — and nothing less.

From Site Assessment to Permission to Operate

We handle every step — permitting, utility interconnection, inspections, and activation. You just watch the system come to life.

1

Site Assessment & Design

We assess your roof, usage history, and energy goals to design a system sized for NEM 3.0 self-consumption optimization.

2

Permitting & Engineering

Our team handles all permit applications, structural engineering, and utility interconnection paperwork with your local AHJ and SCE or SDG&E.

3

Installation Day

Our licensed in-house crew installs your complete system in 1–2 days. Roof penetrations are sealed and all wiring is run clean and to code.

4

Inspection & PTO

We coordinate the city inspection and utility Permission to Operate. Once PTO is received, your system is activated and you start generating.

How to Pay for It

Financing Options That Work for You

We offer complete transparency on every financing option — including the ones we can't match.

Cash Purchase

The simplest and most financially efficient option. Pay the full system cost upfront, receive the 30% federal tax credit, and own your system from day one with no interest, no monthly payments, and maximum lifetime savings.

Your Own Financing

If you're financing, the best rate you'll find is almost always through your own bank, credit union, or personal financial institution. We always tell customers this directly — and encourage you to explore your own sources first.

We will always be transparent: the financing we arrange will cost more than the financing you find yourself. We'd rather you know this upfront.

Solar Financing

We work with solar-specific financing providers when customers need it. These programs are designed for solar and often include deferred payment options. Rates are competitive within the solar financing market, though typically higher than personal bank rates.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — but the financial case has shifted. Under NEM 3.0, the value of solar moved from grid export to self-consumption. Electricity you use directly from your panels is still worth $0.25–$0.45/kWh in avoided utility cost. Pairing solar with battery storage maximizes this further. A properly designed system still delivers strong returns — it just requires smarter design than the NEM 2.0 era.
With owned solar, you purchase the system and own it from day one. You receive the 30% federal tax credit, all long-term savings, and the system increases your home's value. With a prepaid lease, you pay approximately 70% of the system cost upfront — but a third party owns the system until year 5 or 6. The leasing company receives the tax credit, not you. Before choosing a lease, make sure you fully understand how it affects your home value, your options if you sell, and what the financial reality looks like 5–10 years out.
We are a Maxeon Preferred Installation Partner and Enphase Preferred Partner. We also install REC and QCell panels — all premium-tier manufacturers with strong efficiency ratings and long warranties. We do not install low-cost commodity panels with high failure rates. Every brand we install is one we'd put on our own home.
Most homeowners who own their solar system qualify for the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) through 2032. This applies to the full installed system cost, including battery storage. If you choose a prepaid lease structure, the leasing company — not you — receives the tax credit. Consult your tax advisor for specifics on your individual situation.
From signed contract to Permission to Operate (PTO), most residential installations in Southwest Riverside County take 6–10 weeks. The physical installation is typically completed in 1–2 days. The remaining time is permitting, utility interconnection review, and inspection scheduling — all of which ElectriCare handles for you.
ElectriCare has held the same California contractor license (CSLB #778366) for 26 years. We are locally and family-owned, use only premium equipment, and don't build $5,000–$6,000 sales commissions into our pricing. Every installation is done by our own licensed in-house electricians — never subcontracted. When you need service 10 years from now, you call the same local number and the same team shows up.
Cash is always the most financially efficient option. If you need to finance, we are transparent: the best rate you will find is almost always through your own bank or credit union — not through us. We offer solar financing when customers need it, but we encourage everyone to check their own financial institutions first. Our goal is the best outcome for you, not the highest margin for us.
